AR-15 80% receiver jig AR PRO with full auto
This complete AR 15 jig system is designed specifically for 80% mil. spec. receivers. This unit accurately locates all of the drilling holes as well as graphically depicts the specifics of the 2 different (semi and select-fire) fire control pocket depth layouts now on the outside of the latest revision sideplate (see photo in gallery above). The entire AR 80% completion process may be easily done with only a drill press and Dremel tool for those who do not have access to a milling machine. This unit is also popular with LE armorers in that their current AR carbines can be reconfigured to select-fire and/or modified with even a quick change 9mm conversion option on site and then their Form 1 is filed. That way there is no longer any wait for acquisition because of an BATF approval of a transfer, nor the loss of control of the firearm by shipping.
In addition, there is also included a “first-of-its-kind” sideplate set to assist both in the insertion into and protection for the receiver from the installation of the 2 awkward roll pins, which are the bolt catch and the trigger guard. Also there has been added a front pivot pin installation assist tool as well as a trigger assembly pin. This new revision comes with all 5 sideplates (2 for 9mm modification, 2 for fire control pocket work and then the assembly assist plate).
Another innovation that is not available elsewhere is the addition of a quick change modification to the popular 9mm platform. No longer is the armorer required to remove and then re-install the bolt catch and its roll pin for the insertion of the plastic magazine well adapter back at the shop (or have a dedicated lower receiver), now the operator in the field may do so in the same fashion as easily as swapping a magazine. It is done by using this jig’s bushing protected holes to drill thru the magazine well and retained by a spring loaded clevis pin. Entire caliber swap should take less than a minute at the range. Now you may use your same lower for .22LR, 9mm, .223/5.56, .300BLK.
The YouTube video above shows the older revision sideplates and top plate as well as AK upgrades
The 80% lower receivers which I sell directly from my website are not the usual gun manufacturer “out-of-spec seconds” that have been flooding the market lately. Many of these have been over-sized in width. As a result, a new modification has been added. If the receiver is too wide, my top pieces would justify themselves to one side or the other leading to an off-center condition. Now with the current revision, the top pieces ‘free float’ from the sideplates, but are locked in place-centered with the magazine well opening which is always machine-centered for proper firearm ‘action’. Those who have purchased this unit in the past, contact me if you are interested in the upgraded replacement parts.
Video links explaining it are below:
All sideplates and top plates shown above and below have been upgraded due to customer request
Due to demand by other Class II manufacturers, I have just added an M16 direct kit (AR PRO intermediate) which is designed and includes M16-only top plates (1 milling and 1 drilling). This way Class II’s can directly make their M16 version rather than make the AR first and then convert to select-fire using the included conversion templates. Another insert (with an additional drilling bushing) has been added for the drilling of the trigger through the bottom (80% forgings only-without permanent trigger guard).
The video below depicts how the drilling top is utilized when evacuating the fire control pocket with only a drill press (and not a mill):
While most other jigs out in the marketplace take full advantage of the “precision slop” of an AR-15, my jigs have to be precise due to the lineup of hammer to bolt and autosear to bolt trip point. AR’s only need the hammer to be re-cocked each time, whereas M-16’s have to be exact for proper release/catch of the hammer.
Because of both the stringent M16 autosear requirements as well as an increase in lesser quality (out of spec.) 80% sets sold on the internet, I had to design a “receiver tester”. This testing template will indicate three things:
- Proper width of the outer walls of the fire control area
- The trigger slot as well as the rest of the interior cavity are centered and not skewed in relation to the magazine well
- The rear ward tab indicates if too much material has been removed from the top plane of the lower receiver (affects autosear)

The photo above shows this new reusable testing piece which is included with this jig. Proper width and centering all of the parts in line with the action of the gun are the basic requirements. However the manufacturer’s removal of too much off of the top plane of the lower receiver can negate the use of these receivers as select-fire units, because the autosear holes would be too close and potentially structurally fail. If you get a failure, the gun will have to remain semi, trying to re-weld and re-drill will only get you back to the original bad starting point.

Something to remember about the 80% lower receiver market, I have had numerous customer experiences dealing with lesser quality products from both brand name rifle manufacturers as well as machining shops, you need to check their products before you even start work. When you find a flawed receiver, try and swap it for another or get your money back. Like my grandfather used to say, “You can’t polish a turd, no matter how much you try, it will always be just a turd”.
For that matter, do you actually think that big rifle manufacturers use only their best receivers to sell to the 80% market? If they did, that would be an extremely poor business model. I assure you those less than perfect are sold as 80% units on the internet and the really bad ones only end up in the ‘trash can’. Keep that in mind when you find those deeply discounted units…..you always get what you pay for.
As is evident from the photos and videos included here, much time was spent on details in the design and manufacture of these jigs as well as creating the very detailed 21-page jig usage instructions with color 3D cutaway CAD drawings which include all listed (.001”) measurements which are sent via email upon shipping confirmation after the sale. Hardened steel drilling bushings have been inserted into the sideplates for the hammer pin, trigger pin, auto-sear, as well as the fire select switch and trigger for long-term reuse. A patent has been applied for (patent pending). Video below is for my aluminum version jig assembly showing line-up of all holes.
In addition, while the other Class II conversion jigs only attempt to layout just one hole; these additional features are also incorporated into this kit to accurately mark both holes on both sides as well as include the top (select-fire) milling template along with denoting the 3 unique depths of the auto-fire control pocket on the jig’s sides. No other jig kit has anything remotely similar to these features. All of the metal jigs available cannot support the trigger guard at all since they all use ½” plate, therefore none can assist you in the installation of the roll pin there. Also included in these instructions are the little known and rarely disclosed armorers’ techniques regarding the bolt/auto-sear release “timing” measurements which are done with a feeler gauge through the magazine well. I also have all parts kits (3 but not 4 position fire control parts), BGC assemblies, and complete SBR upper assemblies available for purchase.
Pictures shown were done with some brass tubing to prove my products’ accuracy with a factory-produced Law Enforcement / Government Use Only select-fire lower. Note the protrusions pass completely through both jig sideplates as well as all fire control holes. The quality of all aspects of these kits will give the utmost confidence for the completion of your 80% receiver. Take the time to notice all of the details including the engraving on the parts themselves in each of these photos. Further details are on the YouTube videos above.
Jig/template assemblies and supporting parts of the jigs in the photos are included, however (trigger groups or trigger boxes and/or trigger pack assemblies, firearms, receivers, parts, tools, milling bits, and/or drill bits are not included).
If in doubt about the quality of my entire jig lineup, read this Reddit link about the AK PRO (click here)
Currently I also have a complete 80% AR jig/assembly system, an AR conversion jig, an 80% AR receiver tester, as well as an AK-47/74 Class II jig for the 80% pre-bent and heat treated receivers, an AK scope mount template, an H&K flat template, a semi to select fire jig for existing HK rifles, and a semi to select-fire conversion jig for the SEF trigger pack which does not corrupt a semi auto receiver, a Class II AK-47/74 / Galil conversion jig for semi to full conversion, a Galil 80% jig, a locked slide conversion (for suppressor use) for the GSG 1911-22 and a Ruger 10-22 80% jig (also with locked bolt drill-in locator) on-line now.
Keep in mind that I am an 07 FFL with a Class II SOT (suppressor and machinegun manufacturer) and essentially all other internet vendors of items similar in function/use to my kits are neither licensed FFL’s nor SOT’s.
A shout out to the (4) companies renting autos (made using my AK, AR, and HK-SEF conversion jigs) on the firing line at O.F.A.S.T.S. last summer. I appreciate all of the accolades, but I sort of wished that you would have stayed at my table a little longer, giving the all-important satisfied customer speeches to all of the passersby.
Also a big thank you to Mike @ O.F.A.S.T.S. for getting me those cut IMI Galil pieces that I used to design my new Galil jig.
With the recent “legalization” of the Forced Reset Triggers (FRTs), it has now become essentially impossible to hear the difference between it’s slightly slower rate of fire when compared to a true M16.
It is also imperative to realize that the FRT has had a little history of out-of-battery ignitions since it focuses exclusively on resetting the trigger rather than the autosear holding the hammer’s release until the round is fully chambered. In other words, autosears won’t let go of the hammer until the bolt is fully locked in battery.
Out-of-battery ignitions result in the gun ‘blowing up’; magazine blows downwards (YouTube has their share of these), the ejection port cover can blow off and most concerning is the brass shrapnel exiting to the right, out the port.
If you are a right-handed shooter, it will only really scare you; if you are a left handed shooter, the brass is headed for your nose and eyes. If you are standing off to the right, here come all those little brass shards which can really spoil a weekend at the range.
Another drawback is the unavoidable inaccuracy of the forced reset recoil method of operation which is absent with the smoother bolt carrier/autosear operation of the M16.
In semi-auto operation, there is no difference in accuracy of either FRT or M16. Only when they are ‘running’, does this accuracy issue come into play.
With all that said, there is no better time than now for an customers to purchase a jig setup to make their own true select-fire rifles, because neighbor’s ears will no longer be able to perceive which is which. Authorities will have heard “Wolf” cried too many times.
M16 internal replacement parts are also fairly easy to come up with, whereas the FRT’s are proprietary and are only sold as entire drop-in kits.
My guess is when new gun-controllers get involved again, legislators will deem “too may rounds per second” will define the future full auto regardless of the mechanisms used.
This fixture may be lawfully owned by anyone, but ALL NFA RULES APPLY regarding the use of some of the features incorporated into this product. You (the purchaser) are solely responsible for how this item is used and I (the seller) shall not be held accountable for any misuse of this drilling/milling jig by you (the purchaser), whether Class II or not. It is important to remember that to fully comply with ATF’s “home made” rulings, make certain that whatever manufacturer’s 80% lower you decide to start with has not had any type of prior work done (even including work done by a friend) in the fire control pocket area (which includes any kind of top, bottom, or side holes, marked holes, or even depressions/grooves). If it has, it would no longer meet the 80% criteria and therefore would already be classified by ATF as a live firearm and your work on it (unless you are already a Class II manufacturer) would immediately put you (the purchaser) at risk for violating the Gun Control Act.
Most parts included are either “New or Old Testament Scripture Engraved”, if that offends, please purchase another product from another vendor. My products are made in America, by an American, for Americans.
Shipping is included. All transactions are done anonymously and money orders/cashier’s checks get a cash discount, whereas charge cards are for sale amount at end of auction.
This jig along with all of the others that I design, manufacture, and sell, was “over-engineered” for those who value their time and money. Since I have attempted to foresee and surmount any and all possible errors which could happen during your construction(s), the possibility of your making mistakes approaches zero.
Nothing is more disappointing than a mishap that requires a replacement receiver or part. Not only is there a monetary loss, but there is also the frustration factor due to the lost time in the work thus far, perhaps a broken tool or fixture, then there is the wait involved for the replacements to arrive from the other supplier via shipping. Now what should have been reasonably fun has become work. Those frustrations only follow my competitors’ sales (if you can call them competitors), but not my clients. That being said, if you are unsure of your milling capabilities, let me remind you that this jig is made of plastic and is NOT designed to be a machining tool stop. If you hit plastic with a high speed steel mill bit at 2,000RPM, the plastic will always shatter, which would be defined as pilot error.
In my efforts to make this the finest, most accurate jig available, I continually re-examine my product line and I also listen to suggestions by my customer base. That being said, there is always the possibility that an update/revision has been incorporated and the product may have changed in either shape or color from what has been pictured. Regardless, the functionality for which the jig was designed for will ALWAYS be enhanced with each revision.
For those who are curious about what the Bible says about “gun control” 2000 years ago, look up Luke 22:36. Thank you for your attention.
